robotic caregivers

Being a caregiver might be a lot of stress  on your part and takes a lot of times out of your life to care for someone. We know that there are others out there not just you that is a caregiver. Many caregivers that I know go online to search for others caregivers to match their path.

What if I told you that there maybe an easier way?

The world is now coming out with these robotic caregivers that will care for older people like baby boomers. There is currently one robot caregiver named Zora.  that is working to keep people more relaxed and happy. Zora is in Pairs in a nursing home helping older people. A lot of people got emotional attachment with it, they were treating it like if it was a baby.

What happens if robots start taking over for human nurses. I think that having human nurses would be better then having robots being our nurses. The reason I think this is because having a robot as you nurse the chemistry and the social part of it would go away and for some people this might make it be a little uncomfortable.

According to a research done McKinsey Global Institute they estimate that 800 million  workers worldwide could be taken over by robots by 2030. The demand for nurse/ caregivers would go down because we would have so many robots coming in.

There has already been about 5,000 nursing-care homes testing robots for the use in nursing care due to the fact that there has been a declining number of human nurses/ caregivers to care for aged people (above the age of like 65) who are more then a quarter of the population .

As much as these new robots will most likely  cute,  I wouldn't want a robot working on me. I rather have it be an assistant for the human nurse an helping to get supplies then to operate on me and not really say a whole lot to nothing. I like having  a nurse being able to socialize with.

Referring to an article I read about their opinion  on having these killer robots. This one talked about how some of the robots turned against them. Theses robots were created to stand with us and fight for the United states. Later they realized that the robots were not doing as what they we built to do.  So having these robots caregivers going to be a good thing or bad thing I guess we won't know until more comes into play.

I agree to a certain extent of having these robots become our nurses to care for us that cant really live without a nurse for those people that are in nursing homes. I know that some people who read about having robots programmed to care for you and be there for support are most likely a little scared for a machine to give medications, draw blood, take your blood pressure, ect. I know that at first I would be a little hesitant.

  1. Hi Jordyn!,
Great job on your blog, I really like how you stated your opinion on how you would rather have a real human nurse instead of a robot nurse. Your are right, if people do have an emotional attachment with the robotic caregivers, then they will not be ok with out it. How can we make sure that robotic caregivers don't take over actual people nurses?

  2. Jordyn, I appreciate the specific focus of your blog, on robot caregivers. Do you think there are ways in which such robots could be more accurate? I think you bring about some good points about the loss of human connection and sympathy, but I wonder if that might actually be a benefit in any way too.
