New Hampshire Technology vs national technology
The picture on the left is the 5g and the right is China's facial recognization.
The 5g is safer than China's facial recognization even there both semi-similar. With the 5g they are all concerned about how health and how it would be, They are trying to get the city hall in Keene NH to approve it before they can install and place these 5g wireless networking systems installed.
They are trying to do this because the current cellular connection is not as fast as they would like it to before therefore they want to get these to be installed so we can use our phones much quicker instead of waiting hours to just get one thing to load.
With these new phones today we still need to use our faces for a password. This is like not smart either because our faces once scanned into our phones it is sent to a place in the cloud where any one person can get a hold of. They will eventually, be in a lot of places in NH but first, they will be trying to get in to go in Keene NH.
China's facial recognition
China uses people's DNA to help them identify who they are looking for. They can find out anything using DNA including our eye color, what your face looks like, hair color, skin color, and even our ancestry who you are related to. This technology is called phenotyping.
This is a good idea for finding/ identifying criminals and victims. But this is also scary because what happens if it lands into the wrong person's hands could end up being a bad thing.
Also, China's scientist is trying to find a way to use DNA to create an image of a person's face. This is mainly happening on the west side of China. Some are saying that this could be used as a tool to justify and intensify racial profiling and other state discrimination against Uighurs which is a group of Muslims.
The police started interviewing people due to this for safety reasons to make sure that no threats are being made against people.
Comparing the two
If this were me in China I would not want them to use my DNA to find out who I am or who I am related to. The 5G is much safer than China's facial recognization. Even though China's facial recognization helps identify criminals and victims but it is also scary. With the 5g its is scary too because once you connect most to almost all of your data is sent and now anybody can access all of your information and hack into credit cards, get your social security information.

Interesting topics, Jordyn. Could you explain a bit more about 5G? Is the only reason for updating to 5G to make things faster? Are there any other possible benefits?
ReplyDeleteDoes the article make it seem like it's possible to figure out what someone's face looks like based on their DNA? That seems a little out there to me still.
